It`s been a ridiculously long time. And also, it`s been quite a while since I`m No Elvis was released. Finally, it`s now available for digital downloading on CDBaby. It`ll be on Itunes and most other digital stores in the near future.

And I must say, Asle Birkelands cover is more shiny than ever!

By the way, Herr Nilsson is not living the lazy life these days. Our fourth record is being recorded at our place in Grieghallen, and as always, we are excited. Song-titles include «Little Bird Giant Wings», «Yellow Pages», «Figures & Charts», «Your Feelings Are Not Important», «Jump Off» and «Monday». Some of them you might have heard in their early demo-form on this webpage, but things are starting to sound different, in a good way!

Last year we released our single «December» on this blog on December 1. That was a lot of fun. So, of course we will be doing it this year as well! And not the same song, but a brand new one. And December is not far away. Let`s hope December 2 will be better than Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Karate Kid 2, Hot Shots 2 and Rambo 2.

A while ago Herr Nilsson recorded some pieces of music for a childrens radio show called Krønsj. It was a short radio-series about young teenagers with strange problems. The music was recorded in HPs studio at Møhlenpris and it turned out to sound like this:

Five Years

Five Years by David Bowie is a very good song, I think. Not the greatest, but certainly one of my favourites. I`m especially fond of the line «I think I saw you at the ice cream parlor, drinking milk-shakes cold and long. Smiling and waving and looking so fine, don`t think you knew you were in this song». This is such a good line in a song about the acopalypse! I think he had a dream about the human race having five years left to live, and this is the point where he steps out of the story in a sort of meta-poetry.

I also like it when he sings: All the fat-skinny people, all the tall-short people, all the somebody-people, all the nobody-people. I always thought he sang «tortured people» but now I get it. Impressive!

The other thing I like about it, is the sound of the drums. Dry, tiny drums that just go on through the song in the same pattern. Which brings me to the reason I´m writing this. The drum intro I must say, is very sample-friendly, and I must admit I`ve stolen it in almost every home-demo I`ve made for the last three years. And to my ears, it works! So if you want some fitting drums to your lo-fi-record, I recommend you try them to!

The great thing about early David Bowie is that it sounds like a small band in a small room playing very big tunes. Nowadays it`s usually the opposite.

Where is David Bowie these days, by the way? He hasn`t released anything since 2003, and hasn`t played live since 2006, when someone threw a lollipop at him in Oslo. S ome think he has retired. I hope not! He`s my hero and guiding star!

December for christ sake!

Some well-meaning and extremely nice people have been linking to this blog, believing that our free December-single would be available the whole month, (and not just the first day of the month like we planned!). They probably thought we were nicer than we actually are!

But after thinking about it, giving it away would be, as some say, the true Christmas spirit! So why not?

Anyway, Here it is, and remember, it`s not just the December-song, but also "Fell Into My Old Hole", which is a lot better!

- If you were the Beatles (which you most definately aren`t): In which period would you place your band at this state?

- I could be really optimistic and say that this new album is our ”A hard days night”, and that we are about to move along into our marihuana period. But no, we are not cheery moptops and there are no Herrnilssonmania that I have been aware of lately. Although your question is clever, I think it`s not very appropriate. I`m sorry to say bands are not run this way anymore , althogh in the beginning I wanted our band to release records as often as Beatles did. We planned for our second album to be released the same year as our first. It just wasn`t possible, and could ceratainly not be combined with famliy life and a day job. If you really want an answer, I`d say we`ve been through a quick Let It Be-period, but we moved on and made a good album (not unlike Abbey Road, only without the long medley). Only difference is, we are not quitting, and we have not been to court.

- We have hardly heard from the band for at least a year! What happened, are you dead or something? And why have you not been playing live for so long? Are you scared of audiences?

- Yes, there`s been little live-playing lately and I am sorry for that. The main reason is we got a little tired of ourself last year. So we decided we needed a new set of songs and a new record, and we said to ourself ”no new gigs until we were ready”. Now, we are getting ready. We are playing Samfundet on 6. November, and will play some more early next year. But to be honest: Herr Nilsson will never be a great big touring band. There are to many people, to little money, and to little time to make that possible. So we have to prefer quality over quantity when we pick our gigs.

So what about this new album you`ve been bragging about? Is it any good?

- Well, yeah. I like it a lot because it is quick, live and a bit understated, which is a drastic new move for us. Although I like our first two albums, I must admit they have been slightly over-cooked. This new one is spaghetti you have to chew, cause it only cooked for seven minutes. Listening to it, I think one or two songs are a bit under-written, wich is my own mistake. But that is the downside to making an album in a short period of time. And it is better to under-write a song, than to over-write it, which is the worst you can do.

- Have you replaced those crappy keryboards and bought a proper one?

- No we haven`t. Next question...

- Are you still eight members? And if so, why?

- Yes we are! Einar is touring a lot with Casiokids, and Eirik is working as an archeologist in Sogn or Fjordane, so they are joining us whenever they are in town. We are rehearsing with six members, and that is ok. Why we are still all eight? Cause when all of us is kicking in, we are the best band you will ever hear!
